Laser Therapy uses red and infrared light for the relief of pain, to accelerate healing and decrease inflammation. When the light source is placed against the skin, the photons penetrate several centimeters and get absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy producing part of a cell. This energy fuels many positive physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function.
Unlike many physical therapy treatments that mask pain or only address the symptoms of disease, Laser Therapy treats the underlying condition or pathology to promote healing. This means that the treatments are effective and the benefits of laser Therapy are long lasting.
When comparing lasers, the Bioflex laser has 180 diodes per pad compared to 1 to 6 diodes found in other lasers. Bioflex is more effective with chronic conditions because of the larger area being treated.

The Technology of Laser Therapy
Light in its various forms has been used for healing from the time of the ancient Egyptian and Greek civilizations. The negative effects of the absence of light on the human body are also well-known (Seasonal Affective Disorder, Rickets, etc.). Recent advances in laser therapy devices and the appropriate dosages have dramatically improved the results of this therapy.
The BioFlex Low Intensity Laser Therapy System uses both super-luminous and laser diodes to produce photons of light energy. These photons are absorbed by a variety of chromophores (light absorbing molecules) within the cell. When chromophores absorb these photons there is an increase in the amount of biochemical energy within the cells. This increased energy results in improved cellular function.

CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hands can result from a pinched nerve in the wrist. A narrow tunnel, called the carpal tunnel, protects nine tendons attached to your fingers and the main nerve to your hand.
Carpal tunnel syndrome, or CTS, can stem from many causes. Injury to arm, neck, or wrist can affect the carpal tunnel, as can arthritis, diabetes, hypothyroidism, and pregnancy. The most common cause comes from repetitive stress, causing inflammation and pain. Sometimes the pain and tingling occur mostly at night, and can be relieved temporarily by a rapid shaking of the hands, wrists, and fingers, to loosen up that tender spot and the compression of the median nerve.
The first line of defense in treatment tends to be modifying everyday activities that cause the repetitive stress. Wrist supports for computer keyboards have become commonplace in some workplaces. Physicians frequently prescribe oral corticosteroids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or diuretics, all of which have side effects.
Surgical intervention also can relieve the pain, but may result in complications, including infections and scarring.
At Cruz Life Center, relief has been found through the application and utilization of Bioflex laser treatments. A combination of electrodes has been shown to reduce pain and allow free use of the hands again.
Bioflex laser treatments use light to reduce inflammation, intensify healing, and eliminate pain. Laser therapy does not cut the skin or mask symptoms. Instead, bioflex laser therapy works in a non-toxic, non-invasive way, providing topical heating and elevating tissue temperature. Wavelengths of light touch the skin at selected frequency and intensity levels, and the human body transforms the light energy into biochemical energy. At Cruz Life Center, we believe what we have seen in our clients: Bioflex laser treatments enhance the body’s ability to rejuvenate, regenerate, and repair.
In 2002, the FDA approved the use of cold light lasers to reduce inflammation and pain. A Houston medical school study showed 70 percent improvement in symptoms using cold light laser treatment. General Motors conducted a 36-week study of 166 workers. The ones who received treatment showed improved grip strength and range of motion.
