WHAT CAN A DIGITAL FOOTPRINT TELL ME?
A digital footprint is just that–a digital picture of your feet, but it can provide a wealth of information about your feet since 16 points are measured. Here are some things you can learn from your foot scan:
Arches. Fallen arches cause many foot problems including low back and hip pain. A loss of arch height will cause a flattening and rolling in of the foot- this is termed pronation. Because everything is connected, the bones of the leg also inwardly rotate.

Foot Rotation. Excessive rotation of the bones of the leg (tibia and femur) will cause unnecessary stresses on the knee as well as twisting of the pelvis and spine. If the pronation is more prevalent on one side, there can be a resultant unleveling of the pelvis and a functional scoliosis.

Weight Distribution. Tilting of the pelvis places tension on muscles and connective tissues, which can eventually lead to chronic back problems.

Heel-Strike. High levels of heel-strike shock can result from breakdown of the body’s natural “shock absorbers.” The shock wave then transmits up the kinetic chain causing painful symptoms all the way up to the head, slowed recovery of leg and spine injuries, and aggravation of other conditions.

COCONUT ICE CREAM
2 cups boiling water
2 cups coconut powder (www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com) or unsweetened canned coconut milk (oriental food aisle of the grocery store) instead of water and powder. The powdered comes out less expensive per cup and has lots of uses for baking, sauces, and as a milk substitute.
1/2 cup honey
2 eggs
20 drops of stevia, plain or flavored. I used vanilla.
1 Tbs vanilla extract

Put the water and eggs in the blender on high until it steaming and forming custard. A spoon dipped in will be coated when the custard starts to form. You can also do this on the stove top with constant stirring. Then add the remaining ingredients and place in a large bowl (or ice cream maker. If using ice cream maker, follow the directions like any other ice cream). If using a bowl, place it in the freezer and stir every 30 minutes until hardened. I believe the bowl method is easier and has less mess for clean up.

CHAIN REACTION
Your feet are the foundation of your body. They support you when you stand, walk, or run. And they help protect your spine, bones, and soft tissues from damaging stress as you move around. Your feet perform better when all their muscles, arches, and bones are in their ideal stable positions.

The foot is constructed with three arches which, when properly maintained, give exceptional supportive strength. These three arches form a supporting vault that distributes the weight of the entire body.

If there is compromise of one arch in the foot, the other arches must compensate and are subject to additional stresses, which usually leads to further compromise.
It’s a chain reaction.

SPOIL YOUR FEET
Soak your feet in a hot water and Olbas oil bath. This will allow for more blood circulation and will help relax tight muscles. Feels great and Olbas is available here at Cruz Chiropractic.

Massage your feet with gentle pressure using a foot roller or a golf ball and your favorite lotion.
