Why Are We Seeing an Increase in Drug Addiction?
Availability – Drugs that were created for the use of patients with cancer and other terminal illnesses (Percocet, OxyContin, Oxycodone, etc) are now given to out-patients with common ailments. While an alcoholic takes an average of 17-30 years before drinking turns to abuse and then addiction, the new drugs on the market are causing the addiction cycle to occur rapidly, at an average of 7 years.
Both, Dr. Cruz and Lesia are addiction professionals trained by the American College of Addictionology.
A complete person approach to heal the body, emotions, mind and spirit with Chiropractic, Nutrition, Neuro-scope and Laser Treatments shows excellent results when also combined with a spiritually directed support group.
For some people the addiction may be caused by a syndrome called Reward Deficiency Syndrome, read more here.
Prevention for Parents:
How can you prevent your child from becoming an addict of opiates? Take responsibility! Educate yourself and your children. Prevention is the best method – however, if drug use is suspected, proper drug testing should be administered every two days for one week or more. If your child should test positive for opiates or other drugs seek help immediately before abuse becomes addiction. A simple urine test will work.
